Introducing FreeCodeCamp

INTRODUCTION

The first time I heard about freeCodeCamp was during the on-boarding process with CodeX. We had to complete three courses on the freeCodeCamp website: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. I was a bit nervous at the start, as I had tackled similar courses before, and they were somewhat tricky.

To my surprise, freeCodeCamp turned out to be quite easy. It's super user-friendly and felt as though someone was teaching you step-by-step. Since then, I've been taking bite-sized courses on freeCodeCamp to keep my development skills sharp

First let’s include the URL to freeCodeCamp: https://www.freecodecamp.org/

Once you see this window, you will need to sign in and create your freeCodeCamp account.

Navigating can be a bit tricky, so get ready to explore and discover where to find the perfect courses for your learning journey.

freeCodeCamp is not just about courses; it's a place filled with learning opportunities and cool articles on all sorts of programming languages.

You can easily find courses and articles using the search tab. Just type in any programming language that you are interested in, and it will bring up the relevant results.

Now, let's dive into the section where you can explore and discover the variety of courses that freeCodeCamp has to offer :)

Click on the Menu button and a drop down list will appear. Select "Curriculum."

freeCodeCamp also has a YouTube channel where fantastic developers and instructors provide detailed explanations, making learning and building interesting projects even easier.

Scroll further down the page.

From this view, you can choose any of these courses to begin your learning journey. Let’s start with the Responsive Web Design course.

This is one of my favourite courses to begin with, it kicks you off by guiding you through building a Cat Photo App in HTML.

P.S. I absolutely adore cats! 😊

Notice the numbered blocks in the screenshot?

These represent the number of steps in the project. They outline the project's progression. Complete all the steps, and you'll finish the project.

What's cool about this project is that it gives you a preview of the final look. Your mission is to replicate it by the end.

Now let’s start coding!

The most intriguing part for me was how they start with the basics before you dive in. Some might find it a bit like being spoon-fed at first, but I found it very helpful, it explains the why and how behind each line of code.

Once you've finished adding your changes, remember to submit them. Don't forget to sign in to save your progress.

Another interesting feature of freeCodeCamp is its sound mechanics when you type. It plays musical notes, either piano or guitar (not quite sure which). It adds a fun twist to coding with each keystroke.

 CONCLUSION

I hope this has helped you understand the basics of navigating freeCodeCamp. Enjoy exploring it as much as I did!
